LIBERTY TOWNSHIP PARKS

VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS:

FLPR - Friends of Liberty Parks and Recreation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, has been raising funds for special projects in the parks.  Top on the list of their credentials is their fundraising efforts for Fort Liberty Playland project.  FLPR, together with the Parks Committee, organized and built Fort Liberty Playland.  Other credits include purchasing shelters for the parks, funding the reconstruction and furnishing of the Gregory log cabin (circa. 1700's) in Dudley Woods, and fencing Fort Liberty Playland.  If you can give the group a hand, contact Phil Morrical at 755-7227.

VOLT - Volunteers of Liberty Township needs people who are willing to spend some time making our community a better place to live.  Contact the VOLT coordinator, Dean Swartz, at 777-6660.

SCOUT PROJECTS - BOY SCOUTS, contact Rick Plummer at 759-7589 if your scout group has special projects for the parks.  Township Eagle Scouts have been very active in their participation with our parks.  Current scout projects include bird blinds along Wetlands pond, park benches, bluebird and wood duck boxes at Dudley Memorial, and a hummingbird/butterfly garden at Wetlands.

Adopt a Flower Bed -  We need your green thumb!  Each of our parks offer great opportunities for you to apply your special gardening talents.  For example, Liberty Park has eight (8) flower beds and a large living wall that need weeding, planting of annuals and perennials, and pruning.  If you or your gardening club or other civic group wants to take on the responsibility of caring for one or more of these flower beds contact Rick Plummer at 759-7589 or rplummer@liberty-township.com.
.
.
NATURE LEADERS - What's your specialty?  Want to share it with the rest of the Township?  Can you lead a Butterfly or Bird Walk in the parks, a Reptile and Amphibian Hunt around the ponds, Spring Wildflower or Winter Nature Walk in the woods?  Let us know, we would like to have a full range of nature programs and hikes in the parks.  Contact Rick Plummer at 759-7589 or rplummer@liberty-township.com.
