The Liberty Township Trustees approved the Comprehensive Plan on September 18, 2006.  The Comp Plan was approved by the Butler County Planning Commission and the Butler County Board of Commissioners.

In May of 2005, Liberty Township began the process of developing it first Comprehensive Plan.  As part of the process the township formed a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committe, comprised of residents, business owners, developers, builders, and township and county staff. 

The Liberty Township Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee first met on May 9, 2005 to prepare project objectives.  A public input survey was mailed to all registered voters and the survey results will be used in the drafting of the Comprehensive Plan.  A Comprehensive Plan Public Open House was held on May 31, 2005 to gather public input to be incorporated into the planning process.  The public identified planning issues and goals at the Public Open House.  A Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis was completed by those residents attending the Open House.  The SWOT analysis summary was used by the Sterring Committee in the identification of its goal/priorities.

The Steering Committee was broken down into subcommittees, each dealing with a specific area of the Comprehensive Plan.
