Community Profile
Liberty Township is located in the southeastern area of Butler County, Ohio.
Our population as of July 1994 was set at 13,477, and is currently estimated at 33,000. For the last eight years, we have been averaging well over a thousand new residents per year.
We straddle I-75, 25 miles south of Dayton, 20 miles north of Cincinnati, and six miles north of I-275. Ohio State Route 4 between Hamilton and Middletown passes through our northwestern border. Both highways serve designated business areas in the southeast and northwest corners of the Township. The Michael A. Fox Highway (State Route 129) runs east-west through the entire Township and gives us direct access to I-75.
Approximately fifty percent (50%) of the Township is developed. Eighty percent (80%) of that development is in residential use. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the residential development is contained in the lower half of the Township. Many residential properties consist of multiple acres with some in excess of five acres.
Liberty Township offers close proximity to Cincinnati, Dayton, Paramount's Kings Island, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and Cincinnati Bengals football. Area universities include Miami University, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Wilmington College, Wright State University, and Xavier University.
Our zoning and comprehensive plans are designed to limit commercial uses primarily to the southeast and northwest sections. All other portions are zoned for residential use. Agriculture is still practiced in our northern and eastern sections.
Liberty Township is served by the Lakota Local School System. Currently, Lakota Schools are ranked tenth in the State of Ohio.
